Six prong vs four prong setting: which is better?
3 min read ยท True Vow Rings

Prongs are the small metal claws that hold the stone. Their number changes how the ring looks and how securely the stone sits.
Four prongs
Four prongs show a little more of the stone and give a round stone a slightly square outline from above. With fewer contact points, each prong matters more, so they are worth checking now and then.
Six prongs
Six prongs give a round stone a rounder outline and hold it at more points. If one prong is bent, the others still hold the stone. It is the classic choice for a round solitaire.
Our Six Prong Solitaire CZ Engagement Ring holds a round stone high on six slim prongs on a thin silver tone band.
Which one to choose
For a round stone worn every day, six prongs are the easy choice. For a modern look that shows more stone, four prongs work well. See all settings in our engagement rings collection.

Questions and answers
Do six prongs hide the stone?
Slim prongs show very little metal, so the stone still looks bright and open.
How do I check the prongs?
Hold the ring near your ear and tap it gently. If you hear the stone move, take it to a jeweler before wearing it again.
